Armouron: Dressing Up Action For Boys

It’s never too early to start planning for Christmas: we’re firmly into the ‘back to school’ zone for September and from there it’s just a skip and jump to that Christmas countdown. One item to look out for is the Armouron action set, sure to be a Christmas must-have for boys.
Already a winner of the ‘Role Play Product of the Year 2010’ at the London Toy Fair, this set up looks like being a winner for all boys who like to add a few action accessories to their role play. Essentially, it’s a lightweight suit of armour, including helmet, gauntlet, chest plate, body armour and shield, so it can be easily used to accessorize play that re-enacts battles from Beowolf to King Arthur’s Knights, to having a futuristic fight theme for Sci-Fi battle games.
Colors are limited to red and blue, but additional ‘Snapperon’ accessories are available to personalize the outfits, through wings, flames, visors and spikes, to name but a few options. Children can also swap bits and pieces amongst themselves to customize the suits, all part of the fun.
One thing to be aware of though, is that although the suits are aimed at ages 4+, there is also an optimum height range for the suit of 104 – 130 cm, so you might want to subtly check your child’s height if they are considerably tall or short for their age, to check that the suit will fit comfortably and, knowing how fast they grow, to ensure that you get value for money before it’s grown out of!
Finally, as presents go, it needn’t cost you the earth: a basic Armouron set would be a welcome present in its own right, with additional ‘Snapperons’ being ideal extra gifts or stocking fillers from grandparents or uncles and aunties, to spread the expense and the fun around.
