Once you call each company make sure to inquire about every possible discount you could potentially get. If your company has a discount with certain insurers ask about quotes including that discount. Also ask about multiple policy discounts. You may find that one company is cheaper when you hold an auto policy and another policy at the same time. This may or may not apply to everybody.

Because these structures can change at any time it is also good practice to keep your notes and call back every year. It shouldn’t cost you anything to move your coverage from company to company so just make sure you do the research more often. Car insurance shouldn’t cost you any more than the most competitive insurer in the market.
