Hair Loss Prevention: Becoming Aware Of The Causes

Category: Hair Care, Health and Fitness

Going bald is not something many of us want to experience but whether we want to admit it or not, thinning hair or hair loss is a part of our natural life. Our hair is built to fall out and re-grow in order to keep our hair looking and feeling its best. There are factors that can speed up hair loss or prevent hair re-growth such as how we style and treat our hair or how we treat our mind and body.

Hair treatments such as permanent curls (perms) or dying our hair introduces some pretty extreme chemicals to our hair that can damage them. The risk with perms is that we might get an inexperienced person performing the treatment and something as simple as leaving the solution in the hair for too long can lead to large amounts of hair loss.

Hair dyes can become harmful to the hair follicles because of the frequency of use. An every now and again attitude to dying hair is not going to result in hair loss but excessive or constant treatments can damage the hair enough that it just falls out. When it comes to treatments that introduce the hair to extreme chemicals it is best to leave it up to a competent professional and to use the treatments in moderation.

The way we style our hair can also result in a substantial amount of hair loss. Tension on the hair can cause it to fall out before it is naturally ready to do so. This would include wearing your hair in a pony tail or wearing a ball cap. Just like in the above treatments, anything that can put tension on the hair should be worn sparingly, in order to avoid the risk of sudden hair loss.

Hair loss isn’t something we want to experience and being aware of some of the causes that lead to premature hair loss can help us to keep our hair for a bit longer. In the end, moderation for the hair treatments and for how we style or wear our hair should be the key.
