Rather, you can find really amazing deals by finding people who are desperate to sell, or by going to and participating in RV and boating auctions. These type of auctions sell a wide variety of cheap boats and RVs, especially the bigger auctions. Most units found on these auctions are repossessed RVs and boat foreclosure. In addition, these auctions also sell impounds,  salvage units, and sometimes they even sell inventory from other dealerships that went out of business. If you arrive early at an auction, you have a better chance to inspect their inventory and find the best deal.

A lot of times, when you go to an auction to find a cheap RV or boat for sale, these auctions usually have a color-coded rating system for what you are bidding on. A green color typically means that there are no defects of the unit, meaning to say that the RV is in good mechanical condition. A yellow color means that there are a few problems, but the unit runs and works properly. A red code means that the unit is not running at all, that there are several mechanical defects, and that there’s a lot of fixing, repairs and  replacement involved. Whatever venue you take, you should be aware of the problems that may exist. If you are bidding on something that you know has pre-existing problems, lower your bid amount to compensate for the cost of repairing those problems and restoring the unit to it original value.  Arriving to an auction early will give you the opportunity to get to know the boat or RV better before bidding begins.  This is a great and unique chance that you should take advantage of. Use this time wisely to inspect and determine the value of each boat or RV, and also what the trade-in value would be after you buy it.
