Repossessed trailers are popular with many people because of how much less they cost. Brand
new trailers depreciate as soon as they are bought and are often worth half their original value in
just a couple years. Used ones are much cheaper because of that and repossessed trailers usually
cost even less.

Repossessed trailers and repossessed cars can be so cheap because they are typically sold at large auctions. The banks
send them to auction because they do not want to try to sell them themselves. Instead, they let
the auctions handle all of the logistics of it. And since storage and upkeep costs continue to grow
the longer they have the trailer, banks are eager to have the trailer sold as quickly as possible.
This means that they go for the highest bid regardless of whether that bid is higher or lower than
market value.

Since trailer use is most often seasonal, many trailers that have been repossessed are in great
condition and have only gotten a little wear and tear. Ones that are overly worn or damaged are
best avoided. Wait for one in better condition to show up because it probably will pretty soon.
Many trailers are repossessed in the first couple years of ownership, making them newer than
used trailers in general.

Besides the low price, buying repossessed trailers makes a lot of sense because it is often the
nicer ones that are repossessed. Their higher monthly payments makes it more likely that the
owner cannot keep up with the loan and will default on it, which starts the repossession process.
Often these trailers have many nice features and the most popular upgrades, things that do not

necessarily increase its value all that much at auction. You can get a lot more trailer for the same amount of money.
